RESERVING A PUPPY:

You can reserve A puppy with a deposit of $300.00.  Deposit goes towards the purchase price of the pup. Deposit can be transferable to next litter if we don’t have what you are looking for from the current litter. If we absolutely can’t provide you with a puppy deposit is refundable. We do not refund if buyer changes his/her mind for any reason.

PURCHASING A PUPPY:

All puppies/dogs bred her or sold by Prairie Ridge Ranch are sold under a signed contract.  Once the puppy as been chosen (usually at 6 weeks) arrangements are made for pickup and the contract will be sent to you.  Puppy prices range from 1,200~1800 with “limited registration”. Puppies or dogs may not leave our premises without payment in full and a signed contract. If puppy needs to stay longer than 8 weeks arrangement must be made in advance. If for some reason a buyer needs to leave puppy for boarding arrangement must be made and a boarding agreement signed.

We prefer everyone comes to pick up their puppy. If you live far you could fly in and bring puppy on the plane with you.

COMPANION ~ SPAY/NEUTER OR SHOW/WORKING/PERFORMANCE ~ FULL REGISTRATION CONTRACT:

Pups are sold on a spay/neuter contract unless other arrangements are made prior to sale. Most puppies and dogs are sold on a spay/neutered “Limited” contract and the registration papers are marked “Limited”. Many working, agility and sport puppies can be sold on a Spay/Neuter Contract with limited registration. And still compete.  Puppies sold on a spay/neuter contract are not inferior animals, just marked LIMITED  without breeding rights but may actually be of outstanding quality.   Many classes in ASCA and AKC do not require the dog to be intact and don’t care if the dog is altered, so full registration is not needed.  Many shows now have “Altered” Classes for spayed/neutered animals.

BLOODLINES:

Our Aussie’s come from some of the most influential foundation kennels in the country…Twin Oaks, Twin Oaks II and Las Rocosa.

MY BREEDING PRACTICES:

We make sure to always put our dogs wellbeing first and foremost. We are a very small hobby breeder and do this for the love of the breed.  We have usually about 5-8 dogs here at the ranch. We use most of our dogs for working the ranch.

We put a lot of consideration into the blood lines we choose for our breeding program,  including working and show lines with a strong emphasis on working lines. We like a well balanced dog, body and mind. BRAINS AND BEAUTY! We believe that a true Aussie should have the drive to work or “have a job”. That is important to us here at the ranch. We also want to have dogs that can go into just about any situation and thrive.

I only plan to breed with males and females that are  DNA certified, are OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) certified evaluated for hip dysplasia, and have passed with ratings of Excellent or Good or Preliminary Evaluation has been done with good rating by either OFA or Veterinarian.  We also test eyes for HSF4 (Hereditary Cataracts) This test for 70% of the hereditary cataracts that the breed can get. CEA (Collie Eye Anomaly) and PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy )   are also eye genetic test that we do in our testing program. Another test we do is the MDR1 (Multi-Drug Resistance 1) which is to test for drug sensitivity that Aussie are prone to. We recently added . DM(Degenerative Myelopathy )to our testing. These tests help to ensure that your puppy with be free of genetic health problems and you will not have to worry. . We also check our dogs eyes yearly for abnormalities with a normal evaluations. Eye evaluations are an examination by a canine Ophthalmologist for any and all eye defects including cataracts. For more information click here CERF (Canine Eye Registration Foundation).   Please go to our Genetic & Guarantee page for more detailed information

We guarantee our puppies to be free of any genetic defects.  We offer a written   CONTRACT & 5 YEAR GENETIC GUARANTEE  on all our pet puppies. What is  a health guarantee with out the testing to back it up.? How disappointed would you be if you bought a pup and he/she came down with a genetic problem.  It is very important to us that we produce happy and healthy puppies. So we feel it is important to not only have a guarantee but to take the necessary precautions  and have our dogs tested to give you peace of mind for your purchase. We believe all dog breeders should be responsible ant test their dogs for genetic defects. These tools are here for the breeder to use to make sure they are producing healthy pups. I think they are crazy not to use these tools. You as the buyer have a responsibility to buy from honest reputable breeders. When you buy a pup from a bad breeder you are only encouraging them to continue.  If you do not buy from us do your homework and find a good  breeder!

We feed our Aussies a well balanced diet with Diamond Naturals Extreme Athlete brand dog food which is a 5 Star food! Go to Dog Food Advisor website to rate your dog food. This is a non bias website and rates all dog food. We also dress the food with organic raw beef, lamb, turkey and chicken meat from our ranch.

My family loves raising and playing with the puppies, they get tons of attention. They are socialized with my grand kids, friends and with my other dogs.  Puppies are raised in the house with us so we can watch them and give them the attention they need.  The most important thing for us is to give you a happy, healthy puppy!
